The purpose of this study was two fold, in view of therncentral importance of the professional educa tion courses in therntraining and education of secondary teachers. First, tornidentify the attitude of the graduating student - teachers of thernAddis Ababa Uni versi ty toward educa tion courses. Second, tornexplore the factors related to the studen t-teachers ' coursearntti tude.rnA fifty-four item attitude questionnaire based upon thernLikert Scale was administered to 163 survey population. Therndata were analysed and interpreted using chi- squire andrncorrelation statistics. The iden tified trainees ' overallrncourse - a t t i tude was analysed in rela tion to the trai nees'rncharacteristics and regard for the teaching profession; and inrnrelation to the trainees' evaluations of factors related to therncourses and the instructors' quality of teaching .rnThe resul t of the study revealed a non significantrnfavorable attitude toward education courses. However, thernidentified attitude was found to be irrespective of the sex,rnmajor area, region of secondary education and CGPA of thernstudent-teachers. The graduating student-teachers indicatedrnthat the courses lack fair balance between theory and practice,rnduplicated interms of contents, and less stimulant towardrnteaching. On the other-hand, the instructors' quali t ies o frnteaching were rated unfavorably, in general. Teachingrnprofession was accorded a high regard by one half, and a l owrnregard by the other half, of the sUbjects .rnIn the present study, the trainees' characteristics werernfound to be of little help to explain course-attitude. But,rnfactors related to the courses, the instructors and therntrainees' regard for the teaching profession were identifiedrnto have a direct association with the student-teachers'rnattitude toward education courses.
