Shallow Resistivity Invistigation In The Filowoha Fault Addis Ababa

The effectiveness of the electrical resistivity methodsrnhas been studied using various configurations over the FilwoharnFaul t. It has been opserved that the del inea tionof the faul trnwas possible under differential weathering. Geoelectricrnsections across the fault has been prepared on the basis ofrnSchlumberger sounding results. In profiling three diffllrentrnelectrode configurations namely Wenner, two-electrode andrnhalf-Schlumberger, were used along profile AA' and Wenner onlyrnin Profile BB'.rnOn,the basis of data obtained from profiles AA' and BB'rnit was possible to delineate the strike and extent of the faultrnd thin Addis Ababa. Furthermore, the interpretation of thernresul ts in AA' su!!/!ests that the two-electrode configurationrnposses a certain diagnostic feature which heln in mapping latteralrncontact of this type.rnThe age of the fault is es timated to be between 5. O~la andrn6.4 M.yrs. and the down thrown side is to the south.
