This Study was aimed at assessing the practices and challenges of instructional leadership inrnthe Joint Military Staff College at Mekelle. To this end, the investigator has raised four basicrnquestions and addressed the instructional leadership practices in terms of the five dimensions,rnthe effective and clear practices of the strategic plan, the alignment of instructional leadershiprnwith the strategic plan and its objectives and challenges faced during instructional leadership.rnIn order to achieve the intended objective, both quantitative and qualitative approaches werernemployed. In order to gather data, closed ended questionnaire and structured interview werernused as instruments of data collection. The study was conducted in one college by including thernfour faculties that exist. The participants of the study were 44 leaders, 56 instructors and 91rnstudents and they were selected using both purposive and stratified sampling techniques. Therndata collected through the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics likernfrequencies and percentage, mean value and standard devotion and tables since they arernquantitative nature. Those data gathered through interview were analyzed qualitatively in thernform of narration.
