The purpose of this study was to assess the status ofrnPop/FLE in the curriculum of Teachers Education in Ethiopia andrnto findout its effect upon the knowledge, attitude and practicernof the students.rnTo do this, two Regional Colleges of Teachers Educationrnnamely; Awassa and Gonder were randomly chosen. From the totalrnof 460 students population in the two colleges 154 samplernstudents were randomly selected. Sixteen department heads andrn5 curriculum designers were interviewed. A questionnairernconsisting of 20 items multiple choice test, 20 items attituderninventory, 12 items rating scale and one open ended questionrnwas administered for the sample students twice as a pre-andrnpost-test to see the effect of the course.The course cataloguesrnand course contents were considered as sources of supplementaryrndata .rnThen, percentagernmean, mUltiple comparison of thernmean,rnanalysis of variancern(ANOVA),rnPearson correlationrncoefficient and t-test were used to analyse the data.rn.rnThe study revealed that the students seem to have Pop/FLErnknowledge and positive attitude and practicing it at the timernof their enrolment to college. However, variation in their KAPrnlevel was found as a result of differences in College, sex,rnreligion, residential background and previous exposure tornPop/FL information. Besides positive relationship was foundrnbetween their knowledge level and attitude, and their knowledgernand practice . It was found that, there are significantrnproportions of Pop/FL related objectives and contents in eachrndepartment though they lack depth and special concern .
