This study was designed to assess TVETs institutes in support of small scale manufacturingrnenterprises towards sustainable development. It also addressed how successful TVETsrnincorporate their practices in-line with key aspects of sustainable development on the producingrnof skilled workforce of manufacturing sectors. Samples of woredas were taken by using randomrnsampling methods and sample of small scale manufacturing enterprises were taken by usingrnpurposive sampling technique. With regard to TVETs trainers a census were conducted to selectrn67 trainers from manufacturing departments. From 58 small scale enterprises one respondentrnwas selected to fill questioner that makes it a census survey. 3 deans and 3 department heads ofrnTVET institutes, a head of sub- city TVET office and officials of MSED offices at woreda andrnsub-city were taken using purposive sampling techniques. Ongoing of answering basic questions,rna questionnaire that include demographic profiles, the type of supports that TVETs provide tornMSEs operators, the identification of supports were in- line with the needs of operators, and thernpractices of a successful TVETs on producing manufacturing sectors skilled workforce forrnsustainability were designed in a closed ended, open ended and likert- scales. Besides, interviewsrnwere held with TVETs deans and department heads, officials of MSED offices and TVET at sub-rncity and woredas level and observation was also carried out based on the checklist. After therndata has been collected, it was analyzed using SPSS software version 22. The findings of thernstudy revealed that, TVETs supports and trainings on; Kaizen implementation at workingrnpremises, entrepreneurship, marketing and customer services were significantly providing tornoperators. But, there are some discrepancies counted among TVETs trainers and MSEsrnoperators supports and trainings related with adopted technology, certificates of assurance,rnmachine maintenance, equipment rent, orientations before starting business and skill utilizationrnof modern technologies. Further the study delineated that, MSEs are interested at high levelrntowards having training on entrepreneurship, technical skill development, short- term courses,rnmatters with sustainability development concepts and adopted technology from TVETs. Evenrnthough, TVETs supported enterprises in economic and ecological concepts of sustainablerndevelopment, but still less on providing trainings to their trainees towards training on genderrnequality and cultural diversity which are societal suitability ethos. Even, TVETs practicingrnvarious pedagogical approaches and created linkage with many stakeholders still lots remainedrnthere to be done. Moreover, some discrepancy counted on training and support between MSEsrnoperators to meet their needs and satisfaction. TVETs are playing their role on producing skilledrnmanpower to the market needs of manufacturing sectors. TVET institutes found in Gullele sub-rncity should develop their capacity on supporting MSEs to implement with adopted technologiesrnand provide services in all the way through, machine maintenance services and rent equipmentsrnas well, clearly state the concepts of sustainability terms and terminologies with full-fledgedrncurriculum, use various pedagogical approaches and strengthen the collaboration with keyrnorganizations.rnKey Terms: Sustainable Development; EfS, ESD, TVET for sustainability, sustainability skills,rnMSE; Manufacturing Enterprise.
