The purpose of this study was to assess effectiveness of educational leadership in implementingrnSIP in some selected Secondary Schools of Sabata Town. The study is conducted under this Titlernto show the importance of effective and efficient School leadership for the implementation ofrnSIP and to assess the Challenges of School Leaders in implementing SIP and to come up withrnsome possible solutions. To conduct this study a descriptive survey research method wasrnemployed and four secondary School, Namely Sabata Secondary School, Mulgeta GadlernSecondary School, Alemgena Secondary School and Rapi secondary School were addressed byrnthis study. The researcher incorporated 3 supervisors, 10 principals, 70 teachers, 72 students andrn15 members of SIP committee. Questionnaires, interviews, FGD, and document analysis werernused for the purpose of collecting relevant data. Date obtained through questionnaire werernsummarized and presented in table. More over data gathered through interview, FGD andrndocument analyses were considered in triangulating the result of the questionnaire survey. Thernfinding revealed that most of educational leaders were subject specialists and, lack of adequaternsupport from the stakeholders to implements SIP. Based on the school self – assessment thernrelationship between the school and its stake holders, and local community did not ensure thernownership of its potential stakeholders since implementation of SIP was not effectivelyrnsupported by stakeholders and the community. Educational leaders did not possess the requiredrnknowledge through training. In line with the above findings and conclusion, it was recommendedrnthat Sabata Education Bureau is required to revise the criteria used to select school principals. Itrnwas also recommended that Town and special Zone education officials may arrange workshops,rnseminars, short and long term training in collaboration with higher education institutions likernKotobe Collage of teacher education, and school need to think of their own income generationrnmechanisms.
