The purpose of this study was to identify and investigate the major factorsrnaffecting school income generation and utilization in government secondaryrnschools of Bole Sub city in Addis Ababa. In order to realize the objectives of thernstudy, descriptive survey was employed. This study was conducted in sixrngovernment secondary schools found in Bole Sub city. Teachers andrnadministrative staffs 30% of the total population a total of 250 were selectedrnusing proportional sampling method, principals and supervisors a total of 27rnwere taken as a whole. The study involved 21 principals, 146 teachers, 77rnadministrative staffs, 6 Bole Sub city supervisorsand 60parents. Questionnaires,rninterview, document analysis and observation check-list were the instrumentsrnapplied to gather data from the sub city education office. The informationrngathered through questionnaires was analyzed by adopting statistical tools suchrnas frequency, percentage, and mean values. Based on the analysis, the findingrndisclosed that the school managements of the sampled schools utilize therngenerated income that is 31% of the school annual budget out of their plan andrnthey lack commitment, transparency in giving information for the donors.rnSimilarly sub city supervisors did not try to follow and give feedback for thernschool management. It was suggested that, the management be committed,rntransparent to the staff, to different stakeholders and donors (NGOâ€™s, individualsrnand parents). The school management should do confidently and with selfcommitmentrnbased on the annual plan
