The purpose of this study was to assess perceived contribution on the role of school principals and teachers in enhancing student‟s achievement in secondary schools in Arada Sub City of Addis Ababa. To this end, a descriptive survey research design was used for the study and both quantitative and qualitative research method were used for data gathering. Data were gathered from four secondary schools. The sample sizes of the study were 62 teachers, 285 students, 16 school leaders and 3 supervisors. Data collection instruments were questionnaire, interview, observation of class room teacher’s activities and document analysis. The data gathered through close ended questionnaires were analyzed using mean and t-test. Interview, observation and document analysis were discussed using narrative description which was qualitative method of analysis. The major findings of the study indicated that the contributions of school leaders were insignificant means they do not play their role effectively towards enhancement of students’ achievement’s; teachers teaching in grade ten were not implementing expected teachers standards for the enhancement of students’ achievement’s. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that school leaders were not directing teachers and students for enhancement of students’ achievement’s; teachers teaching in grade ten were not implementing the expected teacher’s standards which is their role for the enhancement of students’ academic achievements. Finally, it is possible to recommend that leaders should always discuss academic progress with teachers and students as a form of support, monitoring and evaluation progress leads to high academic achievement of students’. Teachers should also ensure the national standard for teachers that make them good teacher which enhances student’s performance.
