The purpose of the study was to assess Motivation and Job Satisfaction of Secondary SchoolrnTeachers in Saden Sodo Woreda. This study employed descriptive survey as its key method ofrncollecting data that would assist to answer the research question. Interview and relatedrndocuments review were also used as additional data collection tool. Out of 364 employees, 190rnwere selected as sample .Questionnaire and interview were the main instruments of datarncollection. The data analysis and interpretation was carried out by using frequency, percentage,rnand figures were widely used to analysis the data. The results indicated that the teachers wererndissatisfied with most aspects of their work. Salary and benefits emerged as the primaryrndissatisfying aspect of all the work factors. Other areas of dissatisfaction related to poor fringernbenefits and opportunities for promotion, the management style of the principals, the lack ofrndecision-making opportunities for the teachers, as well as the opportunity to develop personally,rnand the poor relationships teachers have with the principals and the parents. Qualitative datarnconfirmed the quantitative results. Thus teachers have not been performing to the expectation,rnbecause of the poor motivation process conducted in the school. Based on the findings, it isrnrecommended that the principals of secondary schools should develop a strategy to creaternawareness on teachers‟ motivation process and the motivation process is not only materialrnoriented. The principals have to take measure on misbehaving students effectively and otherrnrecommendations were made.rnBased on the findings, it is recommended that secondary schools, Woreda education and Zonerneducation provide necessary equipment and material for secondary school, give fair incentivesrnand benefit for teachers through building house in rural secondary schools teachers byrnmobilizing the community, should supply pure waters, electricity, access of transportation, andrngiving place to build home in urban areas and furnish the working conditions with refreshmentrnfacilities.rnFinally, recommendations were made in order to enhance the job satisfaction of secondary schoolrnteachers in Addis Ababa, and for further research
