The purpose of this study was to assess the challenges and opportunities ofrnimplementation in governmental primary schools at Addis Ababa City. This study appliedrndescriptive research design and used quantitative and qualitative research methods.rnPrimary data was collected using a questionnaire, document analysis and interview fromrn423 randomly selected teachers, principals, students and PTA members included byrnusing purposive, stratified and simple random sampling technique from 18 schools foundrnKirkos, Ledita and Arada sub city in Addis Ababa City. The study found out that therncommunities were played their role in running the program on day to day basis.rnMoreover, the study result revealed that the school feeding program had positive impactsrnon primary school enrollment and class attendance. And also the study found out the foodrnwas not provided in cleaned material and student also feed in non-hygienic environments.rnRegard to varieties of food supplied study found out the type of foods that supply tornstudents did not have varieties. Generally the study result indicated that there werernproblems in the monitoring system of the school feeding program. Therefore to alleviaternthese problems the study suggested; the school should be provided capacity building andrntrainings continuously for all program managers and coordinators to enhance effectivernand efficient management of the SFP. Moreover, the school should appoint a professionalrnnutrition coordinator to manage the overall implementation of the SFP. This will helprnschool principals to get more time to evaluate the system of SFP and the schools shouldrnbe prepared permanent and lockable storage facilities where they would store the food tornthe pupils. In addition, the schools should set permanent dwelling structures and feedingrnplace that enabled pupils usually to learn and handle -hygienic environments
