The purpose of this study was to identify the way general teachers educate students withrnvisual impairments in inclusive class rooms and the challenges that they face. Specifically,rnthe purpose was to investigate how general teachers adapt their teaching methods inrninclusive classroom containing students with visual impairment. The study was conducted atrnEntoto Amba Secondary School which is found in Addis Ababa. The study employedrnqualitative case study design by selecting six general teachers educating in inclusive classrnroom having students with visual impairment. Data was collected using interview andrnobservation methods. The results reveal that general teachers have lack of knowledge onrninclusive education and how to apply it to students with visual impairment in the classroom.rnThe knowledge about inclusive education and teaching in inclusive class room is necessaryrnamongst general teachers to apply for students with visual impairments in a suitable way.rnUsing teaching resources such as, tactile and audio materials and encouraging students withrnvisual impairments to use their audio visual devices in the proper way was another challengernthat general teachers face. Moreover findings showed that teachers were not using thernknowledge that they have due to different reasons like, shortage of resources, poor supportrnfrom the school as well as unavailability of parents and inflexible curriculum for adaptation.rnFurthermore, lack of commitment among the teachers and considering the students as arnburden were also other challenges. Based on the findings, it is recommended that, therngovernment and as well as the educational sector should improve the current situation ofrninclusive teaching by training teachers on the proper implementation of inclusive education.rnThe school should also allocate enough budget to students with visual impairment to ensurernbetter education for these students.
