The purpose this study was to assess the roles of parental involvement in improving academicrnachievement in secondary school of South Omo Zone and suggest ways for better parentalrninvolvement to improving students' academic achievement success of the Secondary schools.rnDescriptive survey design was used to study the problem. Simple random sampling and purposivernsampling techniques were employed to select samples from target populations. A total of 194,rn(Teachers, Parents, principals, Supervisors, PTSA and KETB) participated in this study. Surveyrnquestionnaire and interview were used for data collection the reliabilities of instruments werernestablished through a pilot study. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used tornanalyze using SPSS soft-ware. The finding of this study indicates in order to increase home schoolrnpartnership there should be chances to visit school to check students' academic achievement.rnSchool principals should be interested to involve parents on different activities of school andrnteachers should initiate to discuss on students strength and weaknesses. The result of this studyrnindicates that the level of parental involvements in improving students' academic achievements inrnSecondary schools was low. The parental involvements are constrained to improving students'rnacademic achievement for lack of time to meeting, negative approach of the principals towardsrnparental involvements, lack of awareness for their accountability, lack of appropriate informationrnabout the time of meeting program and non-participatory leadership style of school principals werernmajor ones. Thus to alleviate the above problems, recommendation were forwarded. Thosernincluded involve parents at all levels, take an active role in school related decision making, andrnwho regularly collaborate with the school community.
