This research focused on the role of social accountability program in improving qualityrnservice delivery in primary education. It is a case study observed the contribution of socialrnaccountability program in the selected primary schools of Bishoftu town of Oromia NationalrnRegional State. The research used a descriptive research design. The selection of samplesrnfollowed multi-stage sampling procedure. There were three strata; at Town, Kebele andrnschool levels. The study used questionnaire, interview and FGD as methods of datarncollection. 62 sample respondents were participated from target schools social accountabilityrnclubs, a total of participated in filling the survey questionnaire, 17 FGD discussants and 6rnkey informants from town and kebele level social accountability committee, service providersrnand government sector offices purposively selected and take part in the research. Thernquantitative data were first edited, organized, tabulated and then analyzed using percentagernand frequency. While qualitative data from FGD and KII were transcribed, coded andrnqualitatively analyzed. The findings of the study publicized that, the social accountabilityrnprogram has been well implemented and played a role in improving quality service deliveryrnin education. The study identified contributions of social accountability like increasedrnawareness of citizens to know their entitlement and quality indicators then effectivelyrncommunicate their demands for the improvement of the service to service providers and localrnofficials. Moreover, the study identified the potential of social accountability initiative tornfacilitate constructive engagement among citizens, service providers and government officialsrnfor addressing the gaps in quality service in primary education. As a result, most of thernquality education indicators like qualified primary school teachers, student-textbook ratio,rnstudent-teacher ratio improved. In general, the study identified social accountabilityrnprograms and its tools as an effective means to ensure quality primary education servicerndelivery
