The purpose of this study was to investigate the teachers’ perception of school principals’rneffectiveness in secondary schools of Guraghe Zone. Basic questions were raised regarding thernschool principals’ leadership effectiveness, the teachers’ perception, and factors affecting thernschools principals’ leadership effectiveness. The study employed the descriptive survey designrnunder which qualitative and quantitative method were used. Out of 20 secondary schools, 6rn(30%) secondary schools were selected through simple random sampling technique. Out of 280rnteachers 98 (35%) of teachers and out of 18 principals, 18(100%) principals were included inrnthe study by using simple random sampling and available sampling techniques respectively.rnData for the study were collected through questionnaire, Interview, and focus group discussions.rnAccordingly, data was collected on the independent variable, which was principal effectiveness,rnand that of the dependent variable, the teachers’ perception. The relationship between the twornvariables was identified in order to determine the strength of their relationship and therncoefficients of determination existing between them have been identified. The findings of thisrnstudy revealed that the principal effectiveness was too weak among secondary schools inrnthe zone and had a negative influence on teachers’ perception. Thus, principal effectivenessrnhad great negative influence on teachers’ perception, students’ academic achievement andrnschool performance.. Moreover, school principals leaders in collaboration with stakeholdersrnshould provide motivators such as praises, consultations, encouragements or active support,rntrust and respect by acknowledging particular effort in order to raise positive perception ofrnteachers and school improvement as well. The findings of this study give recommendations forrnbetter stand to: the REB, WEO, ZED in collaboration with MoE, are advised to organizernprofessional trainings, seminars and workshops for school leaders on how to use thernleadership effectiveness effectively in their schools- based principles
