The purpose of the study was to assess educational wastage in the primary schools of Holetarnadministrative town. The study used descriptive survey research design adopting mixed researchrnapproach. The study targeted 6 HEO, 17, principals, 97 teachers, 24 PTAâ€s, 122 students therntotal population were 269. Purposive sampling was used to select education officer, principalsrnand parent teachers association. Whereas, simple random sampling was used to select teachersrnand students. Methods of data collection were questionnaires, interview and document analysis.rnThe data were gathered from HEO, school principals, teachers and students throughrnquestionnaire and PTA through semi structured respectively. Qualitative data collected throughrnquestionnaires and analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation by using SPSS version 20.rnThe data gathered through interview was discussed in line with question. The findings of the studyrnidentify factors that influence educational wastage in the study area was school based factors,rnhigh student section ratio, teacher centered teaching approach, poor infrastructure of school,rnlacks of text books, lack of parents and community involvement. Students related factors werernstudentâ€™s lacks self-confidence, studentâ€™s lacks interest in learning, frequent absenteeism ofrnstudents from school, a poor academic performance, traveling long distance learning, and workrnload at home. This study also concludes that school factors student related factors influencerneducational wastage. The study recommends that; the schools and HEO should provide conducivernteaching and learning environment the teachers should teach by using active learning method andrnappropriate evaluation procedure of education and lastly all stakeholders should give attention torneducational wastage parallel to improving quality of education and to reduce educationalrnwastage
