The purpose of this study was contribution of school plant for access to secondary school rnimprovement in south West Shoa Zone Oromia Region State. Hence, it examined the status of rnschool plant, problems of school plant, strategies school plant and maintenance in the study rnarea. To accomplish this purpose, the study employed a descriptive survey design. The study was rncarried out under selected eight secondary schools of South West Shoa Zone. A total of 228 rnindividuals participated in the study. Among them 180 teachers were included as a sample rnthrough simple random sampling technique especially lottery method. Additionally, 16 rnsecondary school principals, 8 Woreda planning and project experts and 24 administration rnworker of secondary school were included through purposive sampling technique whereas, rnprincipals were through availability sampling. The questionnaire, interview, observation rnchecklist and focus group discussion were the main instrument of data collection. Interview was rnalso utilized to substantiate the data collected through the questionnaire. The analyses of the rnquantitative data were carried out by using percent, mean and standard deviation. While data rnobtained through open ended questions, and interview were qualitatively analyzed. The results of rnthe study suggested that, low status of the school plant and facilities, didn‟t have laboratory, rntrained laboratory technician, classroom of different clubs, departments, and pedagogical rncenter. The schools also did not have equipment and chemicals that can be used in the rnlaboratory and no internet access. Additionally, low participation of students and teachers for rnschool improvement, no record and documentation, and low government refunding, low rnmaintenance service and the poor handing school plant and facilities, lack of proper planning,rnfor school plant are mong factory affect the school plants.Finally, the study came up with the rnfollowing recommendations: training opportunities on school plants, develop school level policy rnand guidelines, design a strategy to ensure sustainable stakeholder participation through rncreating fundraising activities, budget allocation and increasing stakeholders‟ participation to rnpromote teaching and learning process and fulfill of facilities such as pedagogical center, rnclinical center, first aid in case of accidents, toilets for girls and other problems mentioned.
