The major purpose of this study was assessIng the major causesrnand possible solutions for teachers' turnover in government secondaryrnschools of Addis Ababa city administration . To achieve the purposes,rndescriptive survey method was employed. The study had three groups ofrnsamples, which encompass 183 practicing teachers, 53 former teachersrnand 15 directors. Questionnaires and interview through random, stratified,rnavailable and purposive sampling techniques were used to collect pertinentrndata. The gathered data through these instruments were analyzed usingrnpercentages, mean scores, spearman rank correlation and one-wayrnanalysis of variance.rnThe study revealed that the major causes of teachers' turnover inrngOlJernment secondary schools of Addis Ababa city administration were:rninsufficient salary and non-salary benefits, low status accorded tornteachers by community and government officials, students misbehavior,rnlacle of praise and rewards based on perfonnance from manager, peersrnand parents, and the absence of advancement based on teachersrnaccomplishment.rnFinally, the study discussed the possible strategies to ml11lrmZernteachers' turnover. These were: ameliorate salary and non-salary benefits,rnincreasing status of teachers, minimize students' misbehavior, facilitatingrnfurther education, and rendering recognition and respect for teachersrnbased on perfonnance
