The major purpose of this study was to ecxamine the level of existing and desire ofrnteachers in technical/vocational schools of Ethiopia to participate in decision makingrnprocess.rnData was collected through questionnaire, unstructured interviews, observation andrndocument analysis. A questionnaire was distributed to 10 government and 2 nongovernmentrnschools and elicited 227 responses. The same questionnaire was completed byrn52 academic teachers, 163 technical/vocational teachers and 12 principals or the total 22 ofrnthem were females.rnFor the purpose of analysis, different statistical techniques such as percentage, chisquare,rnt-test, scheffe test, correlation coefficient and ANOV A were employed. In the finalrnanalysis, the study revealed that significant difference was observed between the existingrnand desired level of participation. That is, the level of existing teachers' participation isrnconsiderably very hi_ . Yet, there is a significant difference between the views of therngroups of respondents (positions) concerning desired level of participation. Strongrnassociation was observed between the goups of respondents concerning the importancernattached to decision categories. It revealed that females perceive less level of participationrnthan males. The study also showed that, as years of experience and academic qualificationrnincrease, the level of participation also increase
