Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI)is a major global health and socioeconomic issue.rnIn the middle of low and high-income nations, it is widespread and affects people of all ages.rnAccording to Communicable Disease Control (CDC)a traumatic brain injury is describes as arnloss of normal brain activity that may be caused by banging on the head, moving from side tornside, or whirling to the head, or penetrating injury.rnObjective: To assess the clinical profile and Outcome of Traumatic Brain Injury patients inrnemergency department, AaBET Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 2019.rnMethods: An institution based retrospective study was conducted on 324 TBI patients who hadrnattending the AaBET Hospital of Emergency Department. The study was conducted fromrnNovember 2019 to June 2020. The calculated sample size was addressed by using systematicrnrandom sampling technique. The data was entered in to Epi-Data version 3.1 and analyzed withrnSPSS version 25.0. A Simple descriptive statistic (frequencies, percentages, mean)was used tornanalyze the results of the study.rnResult: Among 324 patient charts 82.4 % were male making the male to female ratio 4.7:1.rnThe most commonly affected age group was (36.4%)between 16 â€“ 25 years. RTA was thernleading cause of injury (4.7%). On presentation, the severity of TBI based on GCS were mildrn(71.3%), moderate (21.9%), and severe (6.8%). Finally, Most (90.7%)TBI patients werernsurvived within the trauma center, while the overall mortality rate was 3.4%.rnConclusion: Traumatic brain injury is a threatening condition which leads to one of the mostrnsignificant reasons for attending the emergency department visits with increasing admission fromrntime to time by imposing a high degree of morbidity and mortality.
