Wetlands are one of the fundamental natural assets from which a country benefits a lot .They provide invaluable biodiversity resources, support in water quality improvement, support ground water recharge, moderate climate change, and flood control. Wetlands of Ethiopia are under continuous degradation due to human and natural factors. The study intended to assess the perception of farmers and drivers of Cheleleka wetland degradation in Adea woreda east Shoa zone Oromia region Ethiopia .The study employed data collected from 400houshold surveys of seven kebeles and 52 key informant interview, FGD and personal observation.rnFrom the logistic regression the probabilities of the cause of wetland degradation for farmers those reported that farm land expansion is not the cause for wetland and water body degradation in cheleleka are exp(-44.245) less likely to the probabilities of the cause of wetland degradation for farmers those reported that farm land expansion is the cause for wetland and water body degradation in cheleleka wetland and Majority of household (96.3%) responded that population growth is the drivers for Cheleleka wetland degradation.rnIn conclusion majority of respondents (86%) confirmed that cheleleka wetland became shrinking during last two decades
