Failure Assessment Of Buried Water Main Constructed In Expansive Soil Area Of Addis Ababa

This project gives information for the failure distribution of water supply main which is rnburied in susceptible areas of expansive soil of Addis Ababa and comparing with the area of rnnon-expansive soil. It is known that the water supply line has several reasons to fail. rnExternal load exerted on the pipe, due to age, soil pressure, construction work along the rnline and internal pressure are among others. However, the concern of this project is the rnfailure due to pressure. According to Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority (AAWSA) rnfailure data, if there is a failure and has no reason, then the failure data has been recorded rnas failure due to pressure. rnTherefore, in this study an attempt was made to assess the failure data and the failure rncomparison to understand the cause for failure of water main in area of Expansive soils of rnAddis Ababa.
