The main objective of this paper is to examine the effect of Employee Engagement on JobrnPerformance: The case of Ethiopian Private Banks. This study depends on data gathered fromrnmanagers/supervisors, Professionals and Clerical employees of Head Office of the EthiopianrnPrivate Banks. The study used quantitative research approach and Explanatory research design.rnThe data used in the study was primary data collected through questionnaires adopted fromrnprior literatures. The scope of the research was delimited to Head Office of the 16 private banksrngeographical and conceptually the three dimensions of employee engagement: vigor, dedicationrnand absorption were used. The Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) was used to measurernengagement level. Job Performance was measured through three dimensions: trait emotionalrnintelligence, in-role performance and extra-role performance adopted from literatures.rnInformation gathered from respondents using five points likert scale was analyzed usingrninferential and descriptive statistics. The findings of the study demonstrated that there was arnpositive effect of employee engagement on job performance.rnThe result of the present study proposes the significance of employee engagement for thernsuccess of organizational performance through different contributions engaged employeesrndeliver to their organizations
