Occupational safety & health practices are meant to protect health and safety of employees in thernwork place and thereby promoting safer work environment and enhancing improved productivity.rnThe objective of this study was to examine the effects occupational health and safety managementrntraits, namely, employee involvement, training and awareness on OHS, leadership commitmentrntowards different dimensions of organizational commitment in Sheraton Addis. Accordingly,rnexplanatory research design was adapted to carry out this study. Survey questionnaire wererndistributed to respondents in various hotel departments, usingProportionate Stratified RandomrnSampling method, which are prone to occupational accidents.The study considered a totalrnpopulation size of 327hazard prone employees under Engineering, Kitchen, Stewarding, Laundry,rnHousekeeping and Pool & Health Club, of which 179 (69% male 31% female) participants werernselected as a sample size. The obtained data through survey was analyzed using SPSS versionrn20.Correlations and regression analysis were applied to determine the effect and impact betweenrnvariables. The results of this study revealed positive and significant relationship between thernthree traits measuring occupational health and safety management practices employeerninvolvement, training and awareness on OSH and leadership commitment. Moreover, trainingrnand awareness was the most contributing OSH attribute in the prediction of organizationalrncommitment. Another finding of this study was that, stress, working shift and non-compliance ofrnemployees with basic applications of personal protective equipment are top ranking causes ofrnaccidents in Sheraton Addis hotel in their respective order. On the other hand,rnemployeeparticipation during the formulation and implementation of OSH policieswas found tornbe rated very low which deserves attention of the management. Targeting the organizationalrncommitment of its employees, the Sheraton Addis Management, need to have undivided attentionrntowards tackling the challenges in implementing OSHMS and maintain healthy and safe workrnenvironment
