Training and development is a planned, continues effort by management to improve employeerncompetency levels and organizational performance through training, education, andrndevelopment programs. Today human resources occupy, more than ever, the center stage ofrneconomic activities. Thus the objective of the study is to investigate the effects of T &DrnPractice on job satisfaction in prospects of Bank of Abyssinia. The sample size of the studyrnwas 85 employees who were selected through purposive random sampling technique torndistribute the questionnaire. This study is restricted to head office staff and four branchesrnand quantitative in its approach and explanatory in its design. Based on the descriptivernreport 86 % of the respondents disagree that L& d programs are conducted both the need ofrnthe bank and employee. Hence the bank should consider involving employee s when givingrnthe learning and development programs. With regards to design, employees of Abyssiniarnbank believe that the learning and development programs are designed and well planned inrnadvance, adequate and important which also consists both on job and off job. On the otherrnhand the employees complain that the programs are not designed based on need assessment.rnThe implementation practice of the learning and development programs was analyzed as therncontents of the trainings are relevant to the changing needs of the job and it helps to upgradernknowledge and skill. On the other hand the employees feel that the learning and developingrnprograms focus only in some work unit, does not give equal opportunities and it is not fairlyrndistributed among all the staffs of the bank. Finally form the analysis of the study it can bernconcluded that training and development practice has a positive effect on the job satisfaction
