Statistical Measures Of Export Instability With Reference To Sudan And Ethiopia

The aim of the study is to measure the extent of exportrninstability for Ethiopia and the Sudan . Various statisticalrnmethods of measur in g export instability have been investigated .rnThe data were collected from United Nations reports. Di re ction ofrnTrade Stat istics and International Financial Statistics (year book)rnfor the years 1960 to 1989 .rnFour different statistical methods of export instability namely,rngraphical , coefficient of variation, turning point test) indicesrnderived from re gress ion estimate of various functional form havernbeen applied. Also t he Box - Jenkins models have been usact.rnBased on computed results " some conclusions are made . The resultsrnsuggest that the four methods showed similar and consistent results .rnThe overall conclusion shows that export instability during thern1980 ' s was higher than pre 1980
