In the area of micro and nano-scale systems, the piezoelectric actuator (PEA) has become anrnincreasingly popular candidate as a precise actuator. But control problems associated withrnsystem uncertainties and system inherent nonlinearities remain big challenges for controlrnengineers. In this paper stack PEA is modeled with hysteresis effect using rate independentrnhysteresis in order to increase precision. The hysteresis is linearized using Gaussian stochasticrnlinearization technique and self-tuning fuzzy PID controller is designed in this paper. Thernsystem response of the system is compared with traditional PID controller. The self-tuningrnfuzzy PID controller perform better than the traditional PID controller with differentrnconditions. The comparison included parameter variations, external disturbance rejection andrndelay time.
