Connectivity enhances activities being done by individuals,rnstimulates interaction and enables access to knowledge andrnresources. In general, connectivity facilitates quick economic,rnSocial and political transformation. In view of this fact, thisrnstudy was conducted to assess the opportunities and connectivityrnConditions of the Internet in Ethiopia. Questionnaire survey and interview were used to conduct thernsurvey and SAS was used to analyze the collected data. Stratifiedrnsampling was followed in assessing the potential Internet usersrnin different sectors of the community . One hundred twenty onern(121) sample of e-mail users of the PADISNet were selected fromrnPrivate / Individual Academic and Research, NGOs, governmental,rnand Interaction al sectors and 90 of them have replied thernThe questionnaire The findings of the survey indicated that a large number (81 . 1%)rnof the respondents are aware of the Internee, its benefits andrnpitfalls as well . It was found out from the survey that majorityrn(67 . 8% ) of the respondents require e-mail service, a large numberrn(88 . 9%) of them need textual information and 78 . 9% respondedrnthat they are interested on research data on the Internet . Inrnaddition, the highest (84 . 5%) number of potential Internet usersrnbelieved that it is the right time for the country be connectedrnto the Internet and 53 . 3% of them responded that they are capablernof covering the cost of the Internet. Based on the above conclusion, the following recommendations arernmade to sustain a successful Internet service in Ethiopia
