Internet which is paving the 'Nay for the global informationrnsuper highway has become one of the big issues in the world.rnThis big network of networks with its famous applicationsrnlike E-mail, World wide web, Internet relay chat, etc., isrn,rnbenefiting people in the world in their day to dayrnactivities. It is only recently that Africa has startedrndrinking from this sea of information . Ethiopia which hasrnbeen using a store and forward (e-mail only) system ofrnelectronic communicationrnstarting from Januaryrnbecame part of thern1997 through thernInternet worldrnETC (EthiopianrnTelecommunication Corporation) Internet. With the expansionrnof Internet facilities came the wide area hypermediarninformation retrieval system, the World Wide Web, which madernit possible to access large universe of multimedia documentsrnworld wide. Ethiopia should benefit by publishing itsrninformation on various sectors on the WWW by using itsrncurrent Internet connectivity which will enable her torncontribute to the sea of Information and benefit as wellrnIn this study, the birth and origin of Internet and itsrncurrent structure have been discussed . The nature andrncharacteristics of the famous application of Internet, thernWorld Wide Web have been explained. The potential benefitsrnthat can be derived by Ethiopia by publishing on the Web havernbeen elaborated, and possible areas that could be publishedrnon the World Wide web about Ethiopia have been identified.rnThe current situations related to tourism information andrnapplication of World Wide Web have been discussed. The basicrnissues that should be taken into consideration in designing arnWeb page, like style of Web page design , steps to follow, andrnbasic software and hardware requirements for a Web serverrnhave been explained. A prototype Web page on tourismrninformation on Ethiopia , a priority area as indicated in thisrnresearch, has been developed . Concluded that it is high timernfor various organizations and institutions in Ethiopia,rnparticularly in the area of tourism, business , and education,rnto plan their home page and publish on the WWW. The prototypernWeb page can be a starting point for further research alongrnthis line in Ethiopia.
