The current research examined the need for an onlinerndata validation facility, specifically online data entryrnassistance and online help on format errors for databasesrncreated using Micro Isis package. (Micro CDS-ISIS) softwarernTo achieve the specific objectives of this study,rntwo CDS-ISIS Pascal programs (DEA and MOCDS) have beenrndeveloped using the CDS-ISIS Pascal language.rnDEA program is divided into two main parts . Thernfirst part is developed to provide online field-by-fieldrnguidance to data entry operators on how to select andrnenter data in different fields in a record of a Micro Isisrndatabase, based on a machine - readable data entry guide.rnFor the purpose of testing and demonstration of data entryrnassistance, the ABNCD database guide (accommodatingrnbibliographic records, as well as records of profiles ofrnexperts, institutions, projects and information systems) ,rnis used. The second part is developed to provide guidancernon 'Authority files' for certain data elements,rnespecially for the names of corporate bodies, names ofrnpersonal authors, project titles, mono graphic series,rnserial titles, country codes, language codes , meetings ,rnetc .
