Information is a vital resource in the economic developmentrnprocess. Information about labour enables us to utilise humanrnresource and planning and implementation of projects. A numberrnof organization deal with matters directly or indirectlyrnrelated to labour issues. Information is produced and used inrnthose organizations. Labour information is also needed andrnused by other organizations and individuals in dischargingrnproductively their functions and responsibilities .rnHence bringing together these parties in a network- likernstructure will be greatly help in coordination of efforts inrnprocessing data and sharing of information and resources.rnFor the purpose of Fata and Fact collection to study the rnexisting situation and infrastructure facilities in therncountry, survey by questionnaire and interviews was conductedrnbesides examining appropriate documents. A simple descriptiverntechnique and systems approach are applied for data analysisrnpurpose.rnThe survey results indicate that existing labour informationrnfacility is inadequate and deficient. In the first phase, the Committee willrnbe involved in reviewing existing facilities and recommendingrnmeasures for strengthening the infrastructure as appropriate;rnand drafting' a charter under which all participants of thernnetwork will work.rnThe study identifies a number of functions that would bernprovided by each participant and focal point of the networkrnand other issues that deserve the attention of concernedrnorganizations and recommends measures to be taken.
