This research aims at analyzing the two novels of Sibhat G/Egziabher, Letum Aynegalgnrnand Tikusat. Its intention is to investigate if the novels reveal the author's psyche. It hasrnattempted to demonstrate the relationship between literature and the theory ofrnpsychoanalysis.rnFor this purpose, the theory of psychoanalysis on the unconscious; which is discoveredrnby Sigmund Freud has been discussed in detail. Then, it has been dealt with thernrelationship between the theory and literature, which is the theory of psychoanalysis onrnliterature. Next, two techniques of psychoanalysis that could be applied on a work ofrnliterature has been selected. These are the interpretation of dreams and the interpretationrnof symbols.rnFinally, both novels have been critically read. Information gathered from the interviewrnconducted with the author and his biography, Mastawasha, has been substantial aid forrnthe analysis as well as the interpretation. Besides, it has given much help in arriving atrncertain conclusion.rnThus, the findings of the study are summarized as follows;rn• The narrator in Letum Aynegalgn has shown different unconSCIOus sexualrndesires through his sexual fantasies and use of symbolism;rn• The narrator in Tikusat, though to a lesser extent than the narrator in LetumrnAynegalgn, has also shown sexual desires and thoughts through symbolismrnand sexual fantasies.rn• Both narrators in both novels entirely represent the author, which in otherrnwords, means the sexual fantasies and symbols reveal the authors sexualrnthoughts and desires.rnBased on these summaries or results it has been concluded that Sibhat G/Egziabher hasrnsublimated his sex ual desire or instinct through the two novels. This is done through thernemployment of sexual symbols and fantasies.
