The purpose of this paper is assessing the Right to Selfrndetermination and its ConstituionalrnAdjudication: the quest of Kontoma commuinty for recognition as Ethinic group.accordingly,rnqualitative research design was employed for this study; since it is a particular kind ofrnqualitative reaserach that seeks to de scribe ethinic identity of the community. Primary data,likernkey informant interview, minutes of decisions and appeals and proclamations are used for thisrnstudy. On the other hand, FDRE and South Regional state constituions are used as secondaryrndata source s. Furthermore, the finding of the study from both data sources indicated thatrnchallenge of House of Fderation are; lack of rules of procedre to settele constituional cases,rnlacks committement, prioritizing political issues, since most of them are politica l appointees,rnbased on findis and conclusions, conclusions and recommendations were forwareded. Therefore,rnthe House needs to clearlystipulatewhat standards of evidence ought to be used to make identityrnassessements on accourding to the law.
