Preventive interventions strategies, like the promotion of condoms, are important in the fight againstrnHlV IAlDS. Though, condoms are promoted widely on the media, it is not adequately investigated howrnthe intensity of the messages impacted young boys in colleges to use condom. Besides, the intention tornuse condoms is affected by the level of HlV risk perception. Thus, this study examined the effect ofrnexposure to multimedia condom promotions on condom use. It also assessed the relationship betweenrnHlV risk cognition and condom use frequency among male students of Addis Ababa university (n=336).rnBoth quantitative and qualitative data was collected through questionnaire, focus group discussionsrnand in-depth interviews. Intensity of exposure was measured by counting the number ofmedia sourcesrnon which students recall messages. Media exposure was found to be positively correlated with condomrnusage. Hence, students who recall an increased number of condom promotion messages were morernlikely to use a condom than those who recall fewer messages.
