This thesis attempts to describe the major word formation processes inrnKafi Noonoo. Most Kafi Noonoo words are formed by two word form a tionrnprocesses, i.e. affixation or compou ndin g, and only some words byrnreduplication and changing the tone pattern. Abstract, agentive,rninstrumental, action, ge rundive (infinitival), a nd ma nne r nomina ls a rernderived from nouns, adjectives and verbs by su ffixa tion . With regard tornverbs, there are causative, reciprocal and passive which are derived onlyrnfrom verbs by suffixation. Adjectives a re formed from noun s and stativernverbs. The main types of compound words a re nouns, a djectives andrnprepositions. They arc formed from combinations of the same or differentrnword classes. The third type of word formation process is reduplication.rnIt forms frequentive and adverbial nouns. The fourth is tone. It is used tornform nouns and verbs from other nouns and verbs by changing theirrnpitch pattern .
