This is a research paper conducted on the attitude of the Oromo speaking students towardsrnAmharic language use in two universities. The study has been initiated by the fact th at therncurrent Oromo spea king students are not proficient enough in Amharic to make theirrninteraction with the universities' communities both in campuses and out side the campusesrneffective. Thus, the study has intended to assess the attitude that the students have developedrntoward Amharic lan guage during their stay in the campuses. Areas selected for the study werernAd dis Ababa University and Jimma Unive rsity. The unive rsities were selected by purposivernmethods. The sa mples of the study were selected from students of any department attendingrnundergraduate regular classes. The selection of the departments was in random samplingrnmethod but for the samples from the departments, quota sampling method was applied. Thernquota sampling method for selection of samples was used for the purpose of including differentrndemographic factors like age, sex, time duration in the university, areas where the studentsrncame from, and where they were brought up. The total numbers of the samples are 100 inrnwhich 50% from each university. The major data collecting tool from t he students werernquestionnaires. The result of the stud y shows that the Oromo speaking students have positivernattitude towards Amharic and Amharic language use in university campuses.
