The study has been conducted with the challenge, practice, and role of informationrncommunication technology adoption on Ethiopian shipping and logistics enterprise (ESLSE)rnthe logistics operational performance. This study adopted a quantitative method, descriptivernand explanatory research designs, and survey as the research methodology. Accordingly, outrnof 297 employees taken as a population of the study, using purposive sampling technique, arnquestionnaire was distributed to 114 employees of the ESLSE head office working in thernoperation and information communication technology department and various units ofrndepartment ranging from senior officials to top-level managers and all questionnaires wererncollected with a response rate of 100 %. The researcher utilized purposive samplingrntechniques to select the participants. The descriptive statistics were used to analyze thernchallenge and practice of ICT on the logistics performance of the enterprise and inferentialrnanalysis (multiple regression analysis) to determine the cause and effect relationship betweenrnthe role of information communication technology and logistics performance of thernenterprise and to test the hypothesis. According to the regression output of informationrncommunication technology (order management system, warehouse management system andrntransport management system) affect the logistics operation performance in terms of cost, rnresponsiveness (speed), and quality performance dimension significantly and positively. Allrnthese three independent variables are making 48.71%, 78.95%, and 47.69% of therncontribution for logistics operational performance respectively and there an informationrncommunication technology challenge of resistance to change lack of leadership and Lack ofrnfund availability in the adoption of information communication technology. Thus, thernresearcher recommended that the enterprise should work on automating all logisticsrnoperation of the enterprise with advanced information communication technology system, byrnproviding appropriate and necessary short and long term training to employees andrnmanagers in order to enhance capacity and attitude change in different disciplines that wouldrnenable to perform the value-adding activity within the enterprise and allocation of resourcernin order to decrease operation cost, increase responsiveness(speed) the operation, increasernthe quality of operation service.
