Government of Ethiopia is focusing on to support and makes avail different inputs tornmanufacturing industries at an affordable price, accessible to all citizens through EthiopianrnIndustrial Inputs Development Enterprise (EIIDE).rnThe objective of this study was to assess the warehouse management practices at EIIDE. Thernstudy employed both quantitative and qualitative study approaches. Quantitative data wasrncollected from 66 employees using self-administered questionnaires, whereas, interviewrnquestions were also used to collect qualitative data from the two directors and three teamrnleaders. Descriptive data analysis method through the use of Statistical packages for socialrnscience (SPSS) version 20 software was used to analyze the data.rnFindings of the study showed that most of the employees perceived the following; warehousingrnmanagement functions like receiving, put away, and storage are moderately practiced. However,rncomputerized system for inventory and stock control goods and products was not fullyrnimplemented in the warehouses. Availability of adequate machineries and equipment’s are veryrnlow. Perception of respondents regarding availability of adequate stock at all time and itsrncontrolling system was not in place The perception of respondents to rate the level of orderrnaccuracy and delivery of orders to customer on time in the area of warehouse was neutral.rnEmployees believed that adequate shelves and pallets for handling and storing are rated as low.rnRespondents in the quantitative study believe that adequate numbers of items received andrnmoved at full capacity are rated neutral.rnThe study recommends that Enterprise shall fully implement computerized system and use ofrnmachines and equipment in the warehouses. The study advocated that a lot of emphasis need tornbe directed to warehouse management practice and warehouse function measurement based onrnkey indicators and the enterprise should maintain the effort made on receiving, put away andrnstorage functions in enhancing operations of their warehouse which is still need to be improvedrnin terms of machinery and equipment used and availability of adequate shelves and palletsrnneeded for handling goods and products. The other attention area to be emphasized isrncomputerized system used to facilitate the operation process in the warehouses.
