Over the last decade the rapid change in the Banking Industry has resulted in a greater need forrnbusiness intelligence to aid strategic decision making. A key aspect of strategic planning is strategicrndecision making, the quality of which is enhanced by the use of business intelligence. Businessrnintelligence is widely known system for accomplishing enormous advantages to banks that havernadopted it. Therefore, commercial bank of Ethiopia has introduced this new information systemrnsolution named Oracle Business Intelligence from Oracle Company. The main objective of the studyrnis to assess the impact of Implementing Business Intelligence Project in the Bank. The study adoptedrndescriptive research design. Using a census survey method, data was collected from 37 businessrnintelligence project implementation participants and users in Management Information System andrnprogram Management office departments of the Bank. Data collected from target group by means ofrnquestionnaires and interviews. Beside 6 interview questions, questionnaires with items of 38 wererndistributed and collected with a response rate of 82%. The collected data was analyzed using SPSSrn(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) version 20. Presentation, interpretation and discussionrnalso made using table, frequency, percentage and mean to get ample findings. The researcher hasrnused descriptive research method. 17 items were used for assessing the benefits by customizing fromrnprevious research that proposed number of benefits and were grouped into four categories,7 itemsrnwere used for assessing the critical success factors,6items were used for assessing challenges duringrnimplementation and 8 items were used for assessing challenges of using the Business Intelligencernsystem. The finding showed that almost all the benefits assessed have been achieved helping the bankrnto remain competitive. Committed management support and sponsorship was the most successfulrncritical factor during the implementation while Sustainable data quality and integrity was the leastrnsuccessful factor. Less interest on the system from part of managers and clients were the mostrnchallenging ones on the implementation. Poor data quality and Sluggish response time of the systemrnto user requirements were major challenges while using BI. The study recommends data cleaningrnshould be done consistently and Tables and Views in the data warehouse should be optimized tornmitigate the Sluggish response time issue of the system.
