Assessing Managers Perception On Supply Chain Practices And Export Competitiveness (case Of Sesame Seed Exporter Members Of Ethiopia Commodity Exchange)
Competition is no longer between organizations, but among supply chains. Effectivernsupply chain management provides opportunities to create sustainable competitivernadvantage and enhance the competitive position of business firms. This paper attemptsrnto study the impact of supply chain management practices on competitive position ofrnSesame Seed Exporter Members of Ethiopia Commodity Exchange (ECX). Thisrnresearch conceptualizes and develops four dimensions of SCM practice (internal andrnexternal success factors, strategic buyers’ partnership, customer relationship, andrninformation communication) and tests the relationships between SCM practices andrncompetitive position. The data for the study was collected from 78 middle/seniorrnmanagement staff of the exporter firms who are familiar with the corporate strategiesrnand supply chain operations of their companies. The relationships proposed in thernframework were tested using Kendall’s tau correlation, and the causal relations werernanalyzed using one-way ANOVA. The results show that efforts in: (1) implementing thernright internal and external success factors, (2)rnenhancing buyers’ partnership, (3)rneffective Information communication and (4) improving Customer Relationship havernsignificant impact on the competitive position of the exporter firms.rnKeywords: Supply Chain Management, Exporter, Competitive Position, ECX,rnEthiopia
