The main aim of this research was to provide an examination of the Ethiopian publicrnprocurement practice with reference to FDRE, Ministry of Education. It was conducted to findrnout the problems of inefficiency and delayed procurement practice in three areas of procurementrn(the procurement records, the procurement process and the work force of procurement. Thernresearch methodology employed was descriptive survey. In this study public body head,rnendorsing committee, Procurement and Property Administration Directorate, procurement headrnand procurement experts were involved as source of primary data in addition to documentrnreview. The data were presented and analyzed qualitatively by the use of qualitative contentrnanalysis. the major findings of the study indicates that the Ministry of Education publicrnprocurement practices is inefficient and delayed because of lengthy process, highly bureaucratic,rnlacks transparent, responsibility, accountability and skillful experts, poor record managementrnand not give due attention by the heads of the public body and other concerned parties. Based onrnthe findings the researcher recommended the procurement practice should be improved in termsrnof having, sustaining , training the procurement officers and also modernizing the process andrnthe procurement practices and the public body should provide proper attention and follow uprnfor the unit.
