The main objective of this study was to examine the effect of job characteristics on performancernof employee’s with mediating role of motivation at DBE. To achieve its objectives, the studyrnemployed explanatory research design to examine the relationship between dependent,rnmediating and independent variable of the study. Quantitative research approach was alsornused in order to analyze the collected data from the respondents with the help of statisticalrnpackage for social sciences (SPSS) version 26. The data has been collected throughrnquestionnaires, by using stratified random sampling technique. Accordingly, by usingrnstatistical tools like mean, correlation and multiple linear regressions the required analysisrnhas been made in order to identify the possible effect of job characteristics on employee’srnperformance and to test mediation effect of employee motivation. The finding of the studyrnreveals that all studied job characteristics dimensions have a positive and significant effect onrnemployee’s performance and motivation has partially mediated the relationship. The levels ofrnexistence or degree of occurrence of all job characteristics dimensions in the bank werernmoderate. This implies that the job design in DBE has moderately incorporated the suggestedrnjob dimensions. Therefore, DBE shall improve its job design in order be productive and takernlabour competitive advantage from banking industry.
