The aim of this study is to investigate the role of Civil Society Organizations in poverty alleviation. Poverty reduction is not something that can be solved by one group or organization in a miracle way rather it needs collective effort through consecutive years for better improvement. The general and specific objectives the study was assess significant roles of CSOs in poverty alleviation, investigate prospect and challenges CSOs in poverty alleviation, identify the factors affect CSOs in poverty alleviation and analyse the effects of CSOs in poverty alleviation. Beside this, the thesis was following explanatory research design and used both primary and secondary data were collected and used. The primary data was gathered via questionnaire administered while the secondary data was collected through variety document review plus Stratified judgmental sampling design was employed to select the sample respondents from the total population. The collected data has been analysed qualitatively and quantitatively using statements, tables, figures and percentage using SPSS statistical package software valid and reliable constructs to measure the role civil society in poverty. According to the data obtained from the respondents Civic Society Organizations has role in poverty reduction and finally this study concluded that CSOs approaches from needs based to rights based approaches has raised their importance as development actors.
