Multimodal transport system is modern transport and freight distribution system all overrnthe world is tending towards the adoption of best practices, those are reliable, timely andrncost effectively. Multimodal transport between sea, road and rail, has received a largerninterest in recent years. Hence, this research focusedon the determinants factors ofrnmultimodal transport effectiveness. And then how these factors affect multimodalrneffectiveness. Primary data were collected witha structured questionnaire and interviewrnas a data collection instrument was usedandsupported by secondary data. Out of the 228rnquestionnaires distributed only 200 were successfully returned back. Descriptive andrninferential statistics analysis method were used to analysis the outputs (i.e. mean,rnANOVA, t-tests and regression) using SPSS Software. Five determinant factors ofrnmultimodal effectiveness (i.e. transitcost, transit time, logisticsinfrastructures, servicesrnreliability and cargo safety and liability) were analyzed. Based on the findings of thernresearch most of the respondents were dissatisfied on fairness of transit cost, moderatelyrnagreed on the infrastructures, service reliability and transit time, and agree on the cargornsafety and liability.Hence, based on the findings of the research it is possible to concludernthat shortages of logistics infrastructures which result in increased transit cost andrntime.It also indicate that transit cost, transit time, logistics infrastructure and servicernreliabilityhave significant impact on multimodal effectiveness. In addition, least squarernregression showed that 65 percentage of the variability of multimodal effectiveness wasrnexplained by the independent variables. Lastly, the researcher recommends EthiopianrnShipping Logistics Service Enterprise, should improve information technologyrninfrastructures and equipped all the ports and terminalslatest machineries and facilitiesrnin the future.
