Background: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and anemia are the major public healthrnproblems in sub-Sahara Africa. Anemia in HIV-infected individuals is associated with morernrapid disease progression and a poorer prognosis if not addressed appropriately. rnObjective: This study was aimed at determining the magnitude, severity and determinants ofrnanemia among HIV infected patients taking Zidovudine (ZDV) and Tenofovir (TDF) containingrnfirst line HAART regimen in Ayder Comprehensive Specialized Hospital (ACSH), Mekele,rnEthiopia 2019. rnMethods: Institutional based cross sectional study was conducted using both convenient andrnquota sampling method to assess prevalence, severity and determinants of anemia in ACSH,rnEthiopia from February to August 2019.
