Introduction: Visceral leishmaniasis causes alterations of lipid metabolism and associated withrnhypochlesterolemia and severe hypertriglyceridemia. Hepatic dysfunction and life threatingrnhepatitis is associated with visceral leishmaniasis. Kidney damage is frequently associated withrnincreased morbidity and mortality in visceral leishmaniasis patients. However there is nornpublished data on the effect of visceral leishmaniasis to kidney, liver, and lipid profiles inrnEthiopia particularly in the study area. rnObjective: To assess selected clinical chemistry test alterations and associated risk factorsrnamong visceral leishmaniasis patients attending at Kahsay Abera and Mearg Hospitals WesternrnTigrai, Northern Ethiopia from November 2018 -March 2019. rnMethod: Institutional based comparative cross sectional study was conducted from Novemberrn2018 to March 2019 in Kahsay Abera and Mearg Hospitals, Western Tigrai, Northern Ethiopia.rnA total of 100 visceral leishmaniasis patients and 100 control groups working in Kahsay Aberarnand Mearg Hospitals without visceral leishmaniasis were selected by using convenient samplingrntechniques. The samples were processed and analysed by Mindray 200E automated clinicalrnchemistry analyzer. Data was entered and analyzed using SPSS Version 23.
