Background: Diabetes mellitus describes a metabolic disorder of multiple etiologies rncharacterized by chronic hyperglycemia with disturbances of carbohydrate, fat and proteinrnmetabolism resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. The number ofrnpeople suffering from type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) has been increasing due to the agingrnpopulation, urbanization, and low physical activity. T2DM is strongly associated withrnatherogenic dyslipidemia, which is the most common phenotypic pattern of diabeticrndyslipidemia. It involves lipid triad with raised triglycerides, reduced high density lipoproteinrncholesterol (HDL-C) and increased concentration of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDLC)rnparticles. rnObjective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the correlation between serum lipid profiles,rnanthropometric and clinical parameters among patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus in MizanTepirnTeachingrnandrnReferralrnHospital.rnrnrnMethods: An institution based cross-sectional study was conducted among type-2 diabetesrnmellitus at Mizan-Tepi Teaching and Referral Hospital from January 2020 to June, 2020. A totalrnof 89 type-2 diabetes mellitus patients were selected by using convenient sampling. Data onrnsocio demographic parameters were collected by using structured questionnaire and data onrnanthropometric and clinical parameters were collected by well-trained nurse. Five milliliters ofrnvenous blood was collected from each study participants by a laboratory technologist afterrnovernight fasting.
