Background: Nurse Managers are nurses in management level positions in hospitals such asrnmatron, head nurse as well as coordinators. Effective nursing management and leadership arernessential for the provision of desired patient care that will contribute to the improvement of anyrncountry‘s health indicators.rnObjective: To assess managerial decision making involvement and associated factors by nursernmanagers at selected public hospitals, Tigray, north Ethiopia, in 2015.rnMethods: Institution based cross sectional study design was used. Sample size was 113 andrnselected using simple random sampling technique. Odds Ratio and 95% Confidence interval wererncalculated. A binary logistic regression with its statistical significance and multivariate analysisrnwas employed.rnResult: Of the total respondents majority, 71(68.9%) of them didn‘t involve in managerialrndecision making. Those nurse mangers who were working in surgical ward 15.74 were morerntimes likely to be involved in managerial decision making than those working in medicalrnward:[AOR =15.74 (95%CI: 1.32-186.99)]. Those nurse mangers who were working in ICU 86.6rntimes were more likely to be involved in managerial decision making than those working inrnmedical ward :[AOR =86.6 (95%CI: 2.71 -2764.78)]. Matrons were 18.61 times more likely to berninvolved in managerial decision making than head nurse: [AOR= 18.61 (95CI%:1.03-335.41)]rnThe odds of involvement of decision making among the respondents who had poor knowledge andrnskill were 2.56 lower than the odds of the respondents who hadn‘t poor knowledge and skillrntowards decision making: [AOR = 0.39( 95% CI (0.14-0.78)]rnConclusion and recommendationrnMajority respondents were not involved in managerial decision making. Efforts of MOH, RHB,rnand administrators of the hospitals may be needed to improve managerial decision making ofrnnurse managers and use their power regularlyrnKey words: nurse manager, decision making, power, public hospital
