Background: Healthcare organizations require a stable, highly trained and fully engaged nursingrnstaff to provide effective levels of patient care. Nurses have served as advocates for a better, rnsafer, more humanistic health care system, and for public policies that promote the health of thernnation throughout the profession’s history. The healthcare system is becoming increasinglyrncomplex; the nurse of the future will face a highly challenging healthcare delivery environment.rnTherefore, the nursing profession elsewhere continues to be concerned with the process ofrntransition of new graduate nurses to into the world of clinical practice.rnObjective: The objective of this study is to assess the transition of new graduate nurses fromrneducation to practice area and the Challenges in transition of New Graduate Nurses to ClinicalrnWork AreasrnMethods: Institution based cross sectional study design was used on 227 graduate nurses. Simplernrandom sampling technique was used in this study. The data was gathered using self administeredrnquestionnaire. The collected data was entered using Epi info version 3.5.4; the entered data wasrnanalyzed using SPSS version 21.0rnResults: Hundred twenty nine (56.8%) of the respondents reported that they received orientationrnupon employment. One hundred thirty seven (60.4%) of the respondents were agreed with thernconcept “staff nurses felt students as part of health care team.†Only seventy eight (34.4%) of thernrespondents agreed that they received orientation from their university or college upon graduationrnabout challenges that might face them in their clinical work area. one hundred twelve (49.3%) ofrnthe respondents agreed that, nurse students received equal opportunity and recognition as otherrndepartment’s students in clinical practice.
