Background: Nutrition is a fundamental pillar of human life, health and development throughoutrnthe entire life span. Especially Pregnancy is a time of increased energy and nutrient needs for arnwoman in order to meet the needs of the growing fetus and of maternal tissues associated withrnpregnancy. However, little has been explored about nutritional knowledge, attitudes and practicesrnamong pregnant women attending antenatal clinics in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Therefore; thisrnstudy was conducted to describe the nutritional knowledge, attitudes and practices amongrnpregnant women attended selected public hospitals of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.rnObjective: The objective of this research was to assess Knowledge, Attitudes and Practicesrnregarding maternal nutrition among pregnant women attending Antenatal care (ANC) clinics inrnselected Public Hospitals, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 2015.rnMethods and Materials: An institutional based cross sectional study was complemented torncollect relevant data among 322 pregnant women attended ANC clinics in selected publicrnHospitals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. A simple random sampling procedure was used to selectrnpublic Hospitals and systematic sampling was used to select pregnant mothers using the hospitalsrnregistration list. The data was collected with Interview using a pre tested semi- structuredrnquestionnaire from April to May, 2015rnResult: The data were analyzed using SPSS version 21. Multiple logistic regressions were run tornassess factors that were associated with the dependent variables at P< 0.05 and to control thernconfounders. This study revealed that among 322 pregnant women only 87(27%), 156(48.4%)rnand 111(34.5%) of pregnant women had knowledge, favorable attitude and good practices ofrnnutrition during pregnancy. There was a positive significant association between educationalrnstatus of women, family income, attitude, number of pregnancies and nutrition knowledge duringrnpregnancy. Knowledge had positive significant association with attitude of respondents towardsrnnutrition during pregnancy. Knowledge, family income, husband education and occupation had arnpositive association with good practices of nutrition during pregnancyrnConclusion and Recomendation: The knowledge, attitude and practices of nutrition duringrnpregnancy were relatively low in the study area. The government and the concerned bodiesrnshould focus on education and to eradicate poverty.rnKeywords: Knowledge; Attitude; Practice; Nutrition; Malnutrition; Pregnancy
