Background: Globally the prevalence of hypothermia at hospital level ranges from 32% to 85%rneven in tropical environments. Hypothermia is associated with a nearly fivefold increase inrnmortality during the first 7 days of newborn life. For that reason, addressing neonatalrnhypothermia might bridge achievement of the 2030 development agenda, which is reducingrnneonatal mortality to at least as low as 12 deaths per 1000 live births by ending preventablernneonatal death.rn rnObjective: The main aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of neonatal hypothermia andrnassociated factors in public hospitals of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 2020.rn rn Methodology: Institutional based cross sectional study was conducted among 377 new bornrnwith in six hours of delivery at labor ward, in representative randomly selected public hospitalsrnfrom April 1rnstrn 2020 to May 12, 2020 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Simple random samplingrntechnique was used to select four public hospitals. To select study participants systematicrnrandom sampling techniques were utilized. Data were collected by using pretested, structuredrnquestionnaire through face to face interview with the mother. Additional data were collected byrndirect observation and from mother chart review by using checklist.
